Aggressive promotion drives success of newly acquired show

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (June 18, 2007) – “This year’s show exceeded all expectations,” says Mike Reilly, president and CEO of Randall-Reilly Publishing LLC, owner of The Truck Show Las Vegas, which was held June 7-9, 2007 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

“This year’s event dramatically outpaced the results from the 2006 show, which is quite phenomenal considering we did not take ownership until February,” says Alan K. Sims, vice president/executive director.
Visitor registrations grew from 15,002 in 2006, to 17,772 in 2007, an increase of 18.4 percent. Owner-operator attendance increased 21.8 percent, Class 6-8 truck owner attendance jumped 15 percent and qualified attendees also increased 15 percent. And there was more for attendees to see: exhibit space increased by 11percent. “We attribute this success to our promotional capabilities, which include industry leading magazines, a database company, a radio network, a telemarketing company and other strong marketing partners,” Sims says.

Randall-Reilly plans to change the name of the show for 2008 to the Great West Truck Show, “to reflect our efforts to represent and serve all of the Western U.S. and beyond,” Sims says. Once a sponsorship alliance with the California Trucking Association is complete, the GWTS will be the only major trucking event held annually in the West, he says.

The 2008 Great West Truck Show will be held June 26-28, 2008, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Randall-Reilly also produces the Great American Trucking Show, held annually in Dallas. GATS has been recognized by Tradeshow Week, a leading industry publication, as one of the “Fastest 50,” the fastest growing events in the U.S. and Canada, as well as one of the “Tradeshow 200” events, which represent the 200 largest events in the U.S. and Canada.
