Named by USA Today as one of the five most requested speakers in the nation, Asmus is an advocate of free market economics, including removing laws that restrict the development of domestic energy. By 2020, Asmus estimates America will consume 125 quads of energy, a 25 percent shortfall from the current supply. Scientists say the U.S. has more than 200 billion barrels of oil and 2,000 trillion cubic feet of natural gas recoverable with today’s technology. When fully developed, Asmus argues, we would eliminate completely the 10 million barrels of foreign oil imported daily.

The Great West Fleet Executive Conference is the only conference that helps carriers meet the challenges of doing business in the West. Spanning two half-days prior to the opening of The Great West Truck Show, the conference offers carrier executives real-world insights into key areas, including:

What you need to know about complying with California regulations – Chris Shimoda, manager of Environmental Policy, California Trucking Association

What leading carriers are doing to successfully conduct business in the West – Scott Blevins, president and CEO, Mountain Valley Express and Noel Massie, president UPS Central California District

How to finance environmentally compliant equipment – Matt Schrap, president, California Fleet Solutions and vice president government programs, Crossroads Equipment Lease and Finance

Does natural gas make sense for the long haul? Tim Carmichael, president, California Natural Gas Vehicle Coalition

An update on engine makers’ existing technologies and how they plan to meet upcoming regulations – Moderated by Glen Kedzie, vice president, energy & environmental counsel, American Trucking Associations and featuring Brad Williamson, manager of engine and component marketing, Daimler Trucks North America; Craig Brewster, vice president, PACCAR and David McKenna, director, powertrain sales and marketing, Mack Trucks

Presented by Commercial Carrier Journal and the California Trucking Association, the Great West Fleet Executive Conference will be held June 13-14, 2012, the day prior to and the opening day of The Great West Truck Show. Registration begins at 11 a.m., Wednesday, followed by a networking lunch. A networking reception will be held immediately following the program on Wednesday. The conference ends at noon on Thursday when The Great West Truck Show opens. For more information or to register, go to www.fleetconference.com.

Free Friday Night Concert Sponsored by Mobil Delvac

TUSCALOOSA, ALA. (February 2012) – Multi-award winning singer John Anderson will take the stage at the Dallas Convention Center in a free concert for Great American Trucking Show attendees sponsored by the team behind Mobil Delvac heavy-duty diesel engine oil on Friday, Aug. 24th, 2012.

Anderson helped bring country music back to its roots in the early 1980s with hits such as Swingin’, which was named the Country Music Association’s 1983 Song of the Year. Other hits from that era included Wild and Blue, I’m Just an Old Chunk of Coal, 1959, I Just Came Home to Count the Memories and Black Sheep. Those hits showcased Anderson’s instantly recognizable vocal style – a mixture of honky-tonk fervor, rockabilly/outlaw gusto, sly, tongue-in-cheek humor, and just a hint of rock n’ roll swagger.

Anderson returned to prominence in the 1990s with the release of his platinum-plus album, Seminole Wind. The lead single from that album, Straight Tequila Night, went to No. 1 across the board on every country chart. The album’s title tune also reached No. 1. Anderson followed Seminole Wind with five more critically acclaimed albums, spawning hits such as, Money In the Bank, I’ve Got it Made, I Wish I Could Have Been There, Let Go of the Stone, Bend it ‘Til it Breaks, Mississippi Moon and Somebody Slap Me.

“We are thrilled to have country music star John Anderson at the Great American Trucking Show,” says Alan K. Sims, vice president/executive director of events for Randall-Reilly, which produces the show. “Thanks once again to our partners at Mobil Delvac for making such high caliber entertainment available free of charge to truck drivers who attend GATS.”

“For the 10th year in a row, the Mobil Delvac team would like to thank American truckers for their hard work and dedication that keeps the trucking industry rolling year after year,” says Marci Crigger, Commercial Vehicle Lubricants Marketing Advisor, ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties Company, an affiliate of Exxon Mobil Corporation. “We are thrilled to bring such a talented performer who has influenced many of today’s country artists to the deserving truckers and their families.”

John Anderson will appear Friday, Aug. 24th at 5:30 p.m., at the Dallas Convention Center. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning Friday at 9:00 a.m., under the Mobil Delvac tent in the GATS main registration lobby.

The 2012 Great American Trucking Show promises to be an event not to be missed, with more than 500 exhibitors, the Custom Rigs Pride & Polish National Championship, SmartSessions educational sessions and a Driver Recruitment Pavilion. Once again, GATS will host the Commercial Vehicle Outlook Conference, produced in conjunction with Randall-Reilly and the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association, prior to the opening of the show.

New Great West Fleet Executive Conference will deliver exclusive content concurrent with the 2012 Great West Truck Show

New, world-class location and one-of-a-kind conference to help fleets do business in the West will broaden event’s industry significance.

LAS VEGAS (November 2011) –A new one-of-a-kind executive-level conference to help fleets navigate the challenges and opportunities of doing business in the West will be held at the Las Vegas’ Sands Expo and Convention Center, which will also be the new location for the 2012 Great West Truck Show

“With the addition of the Great West Fleet Executives Conference we will be providing exclusive content focusing on western trucking operations, environmental regulations and other issues related to doing business in the West and designed to attract C-level fleet executives, dealers, distributors and industry associations,” says Alan K. Sims, vice president and executive director of the Randall-Reilly Events Group. “The trucking industry in the Western U.S. faces unique obstacles and has more stringent environmental restrictions than the rest of the country. Great West will now be the entry point for fleets and businesses to get the best understanding of that marketplace.”

In developing the new format, Randall-Reilly will work closely with the California Trucking Association and other western-based associations to create content and attract association members. “We are excited to be a significant contributing sponsor to the new Great West Truck Show,” says Mike Campbell, California Trucking Association executive vice president and CEO. “With the significant changes to the venue and content, Great West will be the most relevant annual event for our industry in the West. Our membership, officers and Board will all have an active role in providing support, generating attendance and delivering content to ensure the event’s success.”

Conference and educational track content will include a focus on environmental issues and how carriers can overcome challenges posed by regulations and a changing economy. Industry leaders, experts and fleet executives will headline these sessions. Also, a more experiential exhibition floor will offer exhibitors and attendees greater opportunity for interaction with supplier-led “hands-on and how-to” areas, a first for Great West.

Great West’s new location at the Sands Expo & Convention Center is adjacent to the luxurious Venetian and Palazzo hotels and features a world-class expo hall and meeting space while offering easy access to the heart of Las Vegas.
